Hi, I’m Ailsa. Welcome and thanks for checking out my site.
Authentic Moves came into being so I could assemble and extend my existing projects with individuals, families, groups and organisations. Based in Stockport, Greater Manchester, I work with individuals to transform health and wellbeing, and enable organisations to do the same by increasing understanding of behaviour change.
With a considerable body of knowledge, personal interest and understanding, and over 12 years’ professional experience in the area, I apply a holistic and integrative approach to health psychology, behaviour change and mind-body wellbeing. My special interests lie in motivation, eating, weight & diet concerns, and habits/addictive behaviours. I also collaborate with parents/carers to address stress, manage physical activity and integrate family with lifestyle.
Of utmost importance in this work is the application of a valid evidence base, and I oppose and educate against the use of gimmicks and other dubious methods. However, I fully approve of flexibility, creativity and a personally meaningful approach within the client-centred process and delivery.
When working with clients I often find that the body itself provides both a source of important information, and acts as an instrument through which to better understand and absorb new insight and learning. Rather than turn attention outwards in your wellbeing endeavour, I will encourage you to develop greater awareness of your own internal mechanisms as the most important signpost.
Examples of work include:
– Workshops, Training and Education
– Individual coaching and Motivational Interviewing
– Consultancy (individual or organisation-level)
– Research and development
– Educational content creation
